Balancing police duty with studies pays off for Jaoji

Police officer Jaoji Besetimoala proved that dedication to education can go hand in hand with national duties.
The Naroi, Moala, Lau native, who has been serving in the Fiji Police Force for the past 20 years, graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies on Friday.
He thanked God for his blessings as well as his family and employers for their support in his academic journey.

Balancing his job responsibilities, family life along with his studies was never easy, especially during his undergraduate years when he faced financial hardships.
The long- serving officer is no stranger to academic success, having completed his Master’s in 2015 and a Postgraduate Diploma in good governance in 2023.
“Even though I graduated back in 2015 and 2023, I still felt that my academic qualifications maybe outdated, so I pushed again for a refresher,” Mr Besetimoala said.
Mr Besetimoala confirmed plans to continue further studies next year while remaining committed to his career in the force.
