Dee Cees Limited will cover all medical expenses for the 27‑year‑old Bangladeshi bus driver who was assaulted at their bus depot last week.
“The safety of our drivers is our top priority. We are supporting the driver fully, including covering all medical bills,” company general manager Temo Vakacegu Chand said.
The driver was initially attacked following an incident on Gaji Road in Suva last Friday.

A man followed the bus to the depot, where he physically assaulted the driver. Company staff stepped in to stop the attack.
“Bus drivers in this country are the most important workers because they move the public from morning, midday, and afternoon. Without them, the system cannot function.
"That is why we brought drivers from Bangladesh and continue to extend contracts to meet demand,” Mr Chand said.
He added that repeated incidents like this could discourage overseas drivers from returning to Fiji.
Police confirmed taking the driver’s statement. Investigations are continuing.
