A six-year-old boy has tragically died after a vehicle allegedly driven by a drunk driver veered off the road near Nabitu Junction on Saturday morning, raising Fiji’s road death toll to 10 this year.

Police confirmed that the matter is now under investigation.

Police say speeding is the alleged cause; investigations are ongoing.

The woman was later found a few metres from the crossing point.

Commissioner Tudravu also dismissed claims circulating online that a person who provided information in the case had gone missing.

A primary school student in Lautoka and a man in his 60s off Tubou, Lakeba, were found floating; investigations and postmortems are underway.
