Be Proactive, Fight Cancer, Says Dibau

Breast cancer warrior Makelesi Dibau was diagnosed with stage two cancer in 2020.
Today she is calling on people to take a proactive stance in combating cancer.
During the Pinktober event at the Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Denarau yesterday, Ms Dibau said she had the sign of a lump on her breast in 2014.

She said she did not nurse her third child but on June 10, 2020 surgical procedures were carried out.
As a warrior still in her five year remission period she encouraged all to conduct self-examinations of their respective breasts.

She said that Pinktober traditionally focuses on women’s cancer-breast and cervical but Pinktober was also a time to think about all cancers and how we can identify early warning signs and how we can reduce our risks.
Marriott International Multi Properties vice-president Neeraj Chadha said Pink October was about the journey that people go through, challenges faced and solving the problem- an awareness to save lives.
He thanked Fiji Cancer Society for the wonderful job of supporting and continuing to hold awareness.
They donated $1040 to the Fiji Cancer Society to assist them to carry out their work.
