At least 50 beds and mattresses were handed over to the management and teachers of Kubulau District School in Bua by the Assistant Minister of iTaukei Affairs, Selai Adimaitoga on behalf of the Prime Minister and Minister for iTaukei Affairs.

The project is the Prime Minister’s commitment to the school.

The Government is committed to providing schools with appropriate facilities and equipment in order to promote quality education and a knowledge-based society.

Students spend the entire week at the hostel and only return home to their family on Fridays after school.

On behalf of the school and the Provincial office, Roko Tui Bua Waisake Tuisese thanked the ministry for facilitating the need and supporting children’s education in remote areas.

Mr Tuisese also thanked the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, for ensuring the best access for education for the younger children of the district of Kubulau.

He added that the school hostel was destroyed during Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

“This assistance is a huge relief to parents and their children will be warm and comfortable in their new beds and mattress and mosquito nets for all the 50 students that are attending Kubulau District School,” Mr Tuisese said.

“The provision of beds and mattress will enable the school to better prepare students academically and ensures that every Fijian student has equal access to quality education. The road access to the school is challenging and with the availability of the hostel, it provides a safe abode for the children.” Edited by Caroline Ratucadra
