With their own unique talents, they will be able to become great leaders.

Inspiration is what pushes people to work through difficult times and to work hard on achieving their goals.

This was the message from Soroptimist International Lautoka branch president Zareena Bi who was the chief guest during the Sunshine Special School prefects induction on Friday.

Ms Bi reminded the students, that with their own unique talents, they will be able to become great leaders.

“It is heartening to see unique talents and it is a fact that you are special and have your own talents.

“For those who will receive the badges today don’t hold yourself back by thinking that leadership is something you’re either born with or not, leadership can be taught and people can be trained to become good leaders.”

She advised the prefects to be confident and know how to set the right tone as a leader by letting confidence show.

“The truth is that every single one of your followers looks to your own honesty and code of ethics to set their own bar. When you practise positive thinking it becomes your powerful habit and allows you to reassure and motivate those around you,” Ms Bi added.

“Amazing leaders keep their eyes on the prize. They are much organised and plan well ahead while still remaining spontaneous enough to handle unexpected challenges.”

School headboy Epineri Namosimalua said being chosen to lead the school would help motivate him in making wise decisions and be a role model to his fellow students.

The 19-year-old lad from Batiki aspires to be a police officer.

“I feel happy to be the head prefect of the school and help students in any way possible. Being the headboy is not an easy task it requires strength, and courage and it will motivate me to make good and sound decisions,” he said.

“I would like to thank my aunty Elenoa Waqa for always supporting me.”

Meresiana Leba 17, from Ra, the newly inducted headgirl said this did not come as a surprise to her since she was the headgirl last year and she was prepared to lead the school again.

“The role of the headgirl is not easy it requires lot of hard work so my advice to the students is to love one another, care for each other.’

The school inducted 27 prefects.
