Two important events in the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma calendar have been given the green light by the authorities.

The Wesley Division will have its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 24 while the three-day Bose Ko Viti (AGM) will start from April 27.

The church conference will now be only for a week compared to the previous two weeks event. The conference will be at the beginning of the Term One school holidays.

These were confirmed by Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma general secretary Reverend Iliesa Naivalu yesterday.

Adhering to protocols

Reverend Naivalu said they would have to adhere to the health protocols.

“We have met with the Acting Commissioner of Police and Minister for Health in regard to the annual meeting and conference and they have given us the thumbs up,” he said.

“The annual meeting will be for the 59 divisions, but they have to make sure that they follow the health advice.

“They will have to make sure that the 50 per cent capacity protocol in a place of worship is strictly followed. The conference will be held at the Centenary Church, with 411 people expected to attend.”

The usual activities will not be part of the conference this year.

“We will only be having the meetings in which we will be discussing important agendas of the Methodist church.”
