Biman Attends Global Bank Meetings

Biman Prasad will be part of the International Monetary Fund/World Bank annual meetings next week.

The high-level global bank meet­ing will take place from Monday to Sunday at Marrakesh, Morocco.

The Minister for Finance, will be able to meet his counterparts and Central Bank Governors from around the world.

Mr Prasad will be accompanied by the Reserve Bank of Fiji gover­nor, Ariff Ali, permanent secre­tary Shiri Gounder and senior of­ficials from the ministry and RBF.

Agenda

Mr Prasad will sign Fiji’s first-ever sovereign parametric in­surance cover and take part in various roundtable meetings that concentrate on changing the global financial system to address challenges on a global scale.

The meeting will see the Govern­ment advance its development agenda with a major emphasis on solving international problems in­cluding climate change, pandem­ics, fragility and conflict, energy access, food security, water securi­ty, biodiversity and digitalisation.

In order to be able to handle these global problems, the RBF will also start modifying its funding and operational models.

Mr Prasad will preside over the Commonwealth Finance Minis­ters Meeting in Marrakesh, and take part a high-level panel dis­cussions on climate finance.
