Minister for Finance Biman Prasad could be the second Deputy Prime Minister to be terminated from Parliament under a Sitiveni Rabuka-led Government.

Mr Rabuka set the precedence in 1995 when he terminated the late Taufa Vakatale from her role as Deputy Prime Minister in the Soqosoqo Vakavulewa ni iTaukei (SVT) Government for going against his directive.

"Yes, it can be the same," Mr Rabuka said referring to the possible actions against Mr Biman's stand on the Emoluments Committee report.

"I cannot have a Deputy Prime Minister that does not work in accordance with my directive as party leader, as coalition leader, particularly when I shared on the morning of Wednesday let us stick together until election."

Mr Prasad declined to comment when he was approached at the Labasa airport. He is in the North to open the 2024 Fiji FACT.
