The Republic of Fiji Military Forces’ (RFMF) Black Rock Camp in Votualevu, Nadi, will be home to the RFMF’s Deployable Force Headquarters (DFHQ).

The RFMF said this has been a five-year development plan for Black Rock Camp.

It will also house the RFMF Peacekeeping School and the RFMF Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Centre.

The DFHQ will administer and look after all RFMF troops on peacekeeping duties and troops to be deployed on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Task Group (HADR).

Fiji Sun has been told that various defence partners were approached to contribute towards the building of the Black Rock Camp.

The military’s engineers operations officer, Major Sanaila Vitukalulu, said they were currently working on the Camp’s mess hall.

Meanwhile, Australia has given $3.2 million for a warehouse in support of the military’s HADR plans. Construction will start in 2019.

The three Bushmasters vehicles in Fiji are also part of the military’s HADR plans. They form part of the RFMF’s first response capability during a natural disaster.
