Blaze At Courts In Nadi Now Under Investigation
A staff member of Courts, Sevanaia Vakacegu, said he saw the smoke coming from upstairs. He quickly alerted his fellow staff members.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a blaze that struck a Courts Store located at Market Road, Nadi yesterday.
When the Fiji Sun visited the site, people lined up at the adjacent street because thick black smoke had begun exiting the building. Police had the area sealed off.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident and said Police and officers from the National Fire Authority (NFA) were attending to the incident.

“We will await the report from our teams on the ground,” she said.
A staff member of Courts, Sevanaia Vakacegu, said he saw the smoke coming from upstairs. He quickly alerted his fellow staff members.
“I was at the back of the store when I saw black smoke coming from upstairs. I quickly alerted the staff which they quickly reacted to. The Police and the National Fire Authority were also alerted.
“We don’t know how it started, but lucky no one was hurt. We were all safe,” he said.
Building owner, Nadi Sports and Social Club, secretary Shamal Kumar, who was present at the site said: “I was alerted to the incident. We are aware of the incident and will let NFA and Police to carry out their investigation.”
Firefighters were still fighting to control the blaze from spreading to the adjacent and nearby shops by the time this edition went to press.
