Body of Mechanic Found Floating in Cuvu River
His body was found by two farmers who were working on their plantations next to the river.

Residents of Newtown, Cuvu, Nadroga, are in shock after the body of a member of their community was found floating in Cuvu River yesterday.
He was Ravnit Dass, 32, a mechanic.
His body was found by two farmers who were working on their plantations next to the river.

Mr Dass’s father, Rattan Kumar, 66, said the last time they spoke to each other was on Monday.
“He came home on Monday night at about 7pm, dropped his tools and said he was going to his friend’s house,” Mr Kumar said.
“That was the last time I heard from him until his body discovery today.”
Nadroga Navosa Advisory Council chairman Subrail Narayan said this was a big loss to the community.
“He used to fix my vehicle. He was smart, and a hard-working guy with pretty good heart,” Mr Narayan said.
Police spokesperson Wame Bautolu said Police were notified at about midday.
“Police managed to identify the male deceased and other particulars will be known later. Investigation continues,” he said.
Funeral arrangement will commence after the post-mortem examination.
