Body Retrieved From Nananu River, Drowning Toll Now 14

Watisoni Salagi’s body was retrieved by Police from the Nananu River last Friday. Police confirmed that this brings Fiji’s national drowning death toll to 14 compared to six for the same period last year.
In confirming the incident Chief operations officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu said the Nananu Village headman had called Tavua Police Station to report the drowning case.
“He called the station and reported that a 39-year-old man drowned in the Nananu River on Friday. The body of the victim has been recovered,” he said.
