A bonus payment awaits the 33-member Flying Fijians squad, coaches and management for reaching the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals.

The side lost 24-30 to England in a thriller marred by the controversial calls of referee Mathieu Raynal yesterday morning. Fiji Rugby Union interim Trustees chairman, Peter Mazey said, the bonus payment had always been allocated in the Rugby World Cup budget of $11 million.

"Thus we had budgets for the quarterfinals, semifinals and final with win bonus for each," he said. Mazey said they had agreed for the quarterfinal bonus to be paid for achieving and playing in the quarterfinals.

"The players will receive this shortly," he said.

"The amount due for each player is confidential as agreed by both parties. I trust this is understood."

It is understood that for the 15 weeks (105 days) of camp, the team has been paid an increased allowance of $500 per day, which does not include the signing fee (also increased) for the 33-member squad for the RWC, which is between $15,000-$20,000 per player.
