Boy Found Dead With Cuts, Stab Wound In Waiyevo

The decomposed body of a fully-clothed young boy, sporting cuts and a stab wound on the neck, has been found at Naiyalayala Settlement in Waiyevo, Taveuni.

The discovery was made at a nearby stream whereby a group of young boys had gone for a swim around 3pm on Sunday.

“While swimming there was a stench and the group of boys thought that it was a dead dog at first,” said Ravindra Kumar, chairman of the Taveuni District Advisory Council.

“Upon walking to where the stench was coming from, they found the young boy lying dead on some stones.

“The residents at Naiyalayala settlement are still in shock because anything can happen these days.

“The issue is bothering us and is affecting our community.”

Meanwhile, Police are still conducting their investigation into the discovery.

The area where the boy was found dead has been cordoned off.
