Essie Brigitte of Papua New Guinea (PNG), proudly completed her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies Degree at the University of the South Pacific (USP) yesterday.

The graduation marked the end of three years of study, determination and hard work.

Reflecting on her journey, Ms Brigitte recalled the early days of her studies when everything seemed foreign, from the new environment to the cultural differences.

“I came here to study and at first it was really difficult,” she said.

The constant balancing act of managing time, setting boundaries, and handling the pressures of university life made it even harder for her.

“Sometimes I felt I didn’t achieve what I wanted, but I had to remind myself that it’s okay. I can do better next time,” she said.

She said she stayed focused on her studies and dedicated her accomplishments to the unwavering support of her parents.

“They’ve been there for me financially and emotionally through my journey.”
