Bank South Pacific (BSP) and ANZ yesterday revealed they would extend its COVID-19 relief period to the end of the year.

It followed a meeting among members of the Association of Banks in Fiji, which was held in Suva, on Wednesday.

The information was shared at the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) roundtable, which gathered for discussions about “Working With COVID”.

BSP Fiji Country Head Haroon Ali, and outgoing ANZ Fiji Country Head Saud Minam confirmed their plans.

Mr Ali said BSP had also given a $6million loan to a resort for refurbishment work, amid claims that banks made no concession for the tourism industry.

BSP has assisted more than 11,000 customers. But for over 4000 customers who have not been able to make a pre-COVID-19 repayment arrangement, BSP would go on a case-by-case basis to provide a repayment plan for each of them.
