Without Fiji, we wouldn’t be as big as we are.

BSP Group chief executive Mark Robinson was spot on during a recent cocktail event hosted by BSP at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

Fiji, is the second largest contributor to the profit of BSP Financial group.

Mr Robinson said BSP takes great pride in the fact that the Fiji National Provident Fund, was not just a shareholder of the bank, but recently became their fourth largest shareholder.

The cocktail was attended by the Minister of Health and Medical Services, Ratu Atonio Rabici Lalabalavu, key stakeholders, business diaspora, members of the Fiji Government and the media.

“So, as we perform and provide banking services to you in Fiji and across the region, we share the returns that we achieve to all of our shareholders and we are delighted to have the National Provident Fund as our fourth largest shareholder.

“The country deserves a great deal of credit for the policy measures that were taken and the way that you managed the tough times that all of us around the world encountered.

“I think that some of those decisions laid the foundation for what seeing today, and that is a very strong rebound and it certainly one that we are helping our customers prepare for and make investments in order to continue to grow their business,” he said.

He noted that the bank, Life and BSP Finance in Fiji were well positioned to continue growing and supporting the growth of the local economy.

“As communities do well, we do well. It’s really that simple. At its core, we are a community bank.

“We believe in investing in our employees, working closely with our customers and making sure that we play the role that people expect of banks. Banks are their to support the real economy.”

Corporate social responsibility

Corporate social responsibility, was all about doing things that we don’t have to do, Mr Robinson said.

“We certainly encourage volunteering in projects by our staff in their communities. So, when we see a project that BSP can lend some resources to it and our employees can contribute, that’s music to our ears.

BSP Group topped up its budget for upgrade works at the CWM Hospital, Suva, by another $100 000. The funds for the upgrade work were donated through the International Women’s Association (IWA) Fiji.
