Bua Assures President Of Support

The Vanua of Bua led by the Turaga na Tui Bua, Ra Maku­tu Nagagavoka paid a visit to President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at State House on Saturday.

Accompanied by the heads of Bua’s nine tikinas, they assured President Ratu Wiliame of their full support and allegiance in his leadership.

In return, President Katonivere said their visit was an emotional one for him as his mother was from Kubulau in Bua.

“Today’s visit once again honours my maternal ties and I think of my dear mother who would have been so proud to witness such a day as this,” he said.

“I grew up in Bua, I learnt the ropes of survival there. I was taught that if I want something good in life, I would have to work hard for it for nothing comes free. Nothing good comes easy.

“Bua is very close to my heart and today is important because we are fostering traditional ties of old once again.”
