Funds raised through the Nadi Bula Festival could soon help strengthen public safety in Nadi, with the festival trust planning to install three closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the town.

Nadi Bula Festival Trust president Salome Williams announced the initiative during the launch of the Nadi International Airport Bula Festival 2026 at the Tanoa International Hotel on Saturday night.

“The objective for 2026 is that the Nadi Bula Festival Trust is looking at putting up three CCTV cameras, and one of them has three phases,” she said.

“Where they will be installed will be formalised when we meet with stakeholders.”

Ms Williams said the festival's purpose remained centred on raising funds for charitable causes, creating awareness and promoting the annual event.

Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Lawrence Kumar welcomed the planned installation, saying it would enhance safety and security in the town.

“We urge other non-government organisations and stakeholders with similar plans to come forward, similar to the Nadi Bula Trust, to assist with installing more CCTV cameras in and around Nadi town, especially in Martintar.”

The Bula Festival, Fiji's longest-running festival, has a 66-year history and was founded by Nadi pioneers and community leaders.

“For generations, the Bula Festival has been a symbol of hope, unity and generosity. It has brought together people from every background to support charitable causes, strengthen community bonds and showcase the best of Nadi,” Ms Williams said.

She also confirmed that 10 contestants will compete for the N
