CAAF Turns 45, Rebrands

As the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) marked 45 years in operation, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka praised the decades of work by the organisation.

The anniversary also marked a rebranding of the organisation, with Mr Gavoka saying it would continue to ensure Fiji's skies remained safe, its connections remain strong, and its opportunities limitless.

As CAAF embarks on an exciting new chapter with its rebranding; it heralds a sustainable and prosperous future for Fiji's aviation industry, said Mr Gavoka.

In 2025, the strengthening of l e legislations will work to harmonise Fiji's aviation laws with international standards.

"This will further solidify Fiji's position as a trusted aviation hub in the Pacific," he said.

CAAF chief executive Theresa Levestam said this was an opportunity to reflect on the journey that had brought the organisation to where it is today, and to help envision a bright future ahead.

"We stand on the shoulders of the visionary leaders and the dedicated staff and committed partners who have built CAAF," she said.

Ms Levestam said CAAF punches above its weight on the global stage.

"To all those who have contributed to this journey, CAAF extends its deepest gratitude.

"Over the past 45 years, CAAF has remained steadfast in its mission to uphold the highest standards of aviation, not just in Fiji, but across the Pacific.

"From pioneering the use of the Global Positioning System, or GPS as it is commonly known, for aircraft tracking, to facilitating the implementation of advanced surveillance within our airspace, we have been at the forefront of innovation and excellence.

"Our oversight, and effective implementation scores, surpass the global average."
