Student cadets should understand the value of sacrifice and be prepared to overcome challenges to build resilience, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (A/ACPO) Kasiano Vusonilawe told Nabala Junior Secondary School cadets in Naduri, Macuata, yesterday.

More than 50 cadets took part in the school’s cadet passing-out parade.

A former student of Nabala Junior Secondary, A/ACPO Vusonilawe shared how he rose from humble beginnings to become a key member of the Fiji Police Force, travelling to nine countries through persistence and dedication.

He stressed that the discipline and effort required in cadet training are foundational to character development.

“When you struggle and suffer pain during hours of drill sessions, pain teaches you a lesson,” he said.
“Your struggles today are building your character for tomorrow.”

He emphasised that investment in cadet training equips students to tackle greater challenges in the future.

Avoid drugs from a young age

“Drugs are the enemy of your growth. Choose obedience over wrongdoing,” A/ACPO Vusonilawe said.

Best female cadet Kesaia Bokasara Ligai said she learned the importance of sacrifice from his message.

“To me, sacrifice means avoiding unnecessary social engagements and focusing on meaningful interactions with people,” she said, adding that staying away from drugs is essential for a prosperous future.
