Car chase ends in home compound

Police are investigating an accident involving a car that crashed through the fence of a home at Sharma Road, Nadera, Nasinu, yesterday.
The incident occurred at around 11am. Witnesses claim the car was chased by a Land Transport Authority (LTA) vehicle.
Riya Nand, 20, who lived nearby said she was at her home when she heard a loud noise.

When she came outside to see what had caused the bang, she saw the driver trying to escape by running towards the back of the house and jumped over a gate.
Ms Nand said the man was wearing a black tee-shirt, pants and a bucket hat.
“We didn’t know how he ran from that side of the neighbourhood to the far end where the initial chase was directed from,” she said.
“By the time he appeared from that corner, he had changed into a grey tee-shirt and black cap.
Ms Nand said the driver walked over to the Police officers who had then arrived a few minutes later and told them that the car belonged to him.
“He surrendered himself to the Police officers,” he said.
Police confirmed the incident.
Fiji Sun gathered the man was driving a car which has an expired registration.
