Chaudhary questions Ahluwalia’s travel amid strike

Fiji Labour Party leader, Mahendra Chaudhary has questioned the University of the South Pacific’s vice-chancellor, Pal Ahluwalia’s travel to Samoa amid the ongoing crisis in the University.
Mr Chaudhary visited USP union members on strike yesterday at the Laucala Campus.
“The Fiji Labour Party is questioning the delay in investigating the long-standing staff grievances at USP which has culminated in the current stand off between USP management and its unions,” Mr Chaudhary said.

“Despite being ordered by the Council to relocate to Fiji the VC has not yet moved into the official residence at the Laucala campus. The USP dispute has been ongoing since 2021 and must be resolved swiftly. There have been serious allegations of mismanagement, abuse of office, irregularities in promotions and even corrupt practices.
Mr Chaudhary claimed the allegations against Mr Ahluwalia were legit as they had been backed by an independent report last November.
The strike entered its third day yesterday
