Lomani Au Children’s Home in Savusavu will soon receive a donation of $950 cash and a brand new washing machine.

This was only made possible through the first ever successful event, Wine Tasting and Art Exhibition held last Saturday at Nukubalavu Road.

The one day event was organised by Kelly Budd, an American who has been living in Savusavu for three years and Chinese nationals, Jing Jing Zou and Sean Zou, the owner of Sea Lover’s Company specialised in selling varieties of wine in Savusavu.

“Special thanks to Don and Heather Nettle, from Senitoa, Oneva, who were kind enough to personally donate a new washing machine to the Home, the item of which the Home had initially ear-marked any proceeds for,” Ms Budd said.

“The Home can now use the additional money for other ear-marked items.

Thanks to Ms Zou for featuring 11 wines and food that could pair with each other and also to six artists from THE SPACE who displayed their artwork.”

“We were able to sell 30 tickets, sold each at $40 where we told the guests that $10 from every ticket would be given to the Home,” she said

“There were also so many loving people who also donated cash for the future of 16 kids that the Home accommodates.

Those who attended to have taste of different wine proposed many ideas as to how we can broaden this event and carry out more charity work in Savusavu. Meanwhile, Ms Zou said she was excited and happy to see the turnout and the contribution and was more willing to support such an event.

“It brought business, artists and the community together to learn about various wines and food pairing, see the incredible local art talent we have in Savusavu, and the ability to assist a very special charity,” Ms Zou said.
