Colgate-Palmolive (Fiji) has entered a major three-year partnership with Damodar City Suva and Labasa to officially sponsor the annual Christmas Tree Lighting events from 2025 to 2027.
This move is aimed at spreading festive cheer and strengthening community spirit across the nation.
The announcement was made today in Suva, where both partners signed the official agreement. The partnership builds on the success of last year’s lighting event, which drew hundreds of families to witness the return of Suva’s city lights and Christmas decorations after the COVID-19 years.

The event marked the revival of one of Fiji’s most cherished holiday traditions, the Christmas Tree Lighting, which has long symbolised togetherness and the start of the festive season for many families.
For the first time, celebrations will also expand to the Northern Division, with Damodar City Labasa hosting its own Colgate Christmas Tree Lighting event this year.
Colgate-Palmolive Fiji general manager, Adrian Romanin, said the partnership reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to the Fijian community.
“Last year’s tree lighting was a great success, it brought a lot of joy to the people of Fiji,” Mr Romanin said.
“We wanted to show a stronger, long-term commitment by extending this celebration over the next three years and taking that same energy to Labasa as well. Christmas is a time that truly connects our brand with families, smiles, and happiness.”
He added that Colgate’s core brand belief, “Making More Smiles,” aligns perfectly with the spirit of Christmas, which centers on giving, unity, and spreading happiness.
Damodar Group chief executive officer, Div Damodar, said the partnership will help bring people together during one of the most celebrated times of the year.
“Just watching the Christmas tree light up brings warmth and joy, not only to kids but to grown-ups too. It melts away the stress and reminds us of what Christmas is really about.”
He confirmed that the official lighting ceremony will take place in Suva in two weeks, followed by Labasa the week after.
The Christmas tree now officially named the “Colgate Christmas Tree,” is expected to attract large crowds and feature live entertainment, local performers, and giveaways, making it one of Fiji’s biggest festive events of the year.
This partnership also reflects a wider trend of corporate social responsibility in Fiji, where major companies are taking a more active role in promoting community happiness and cultural celebration, especially after the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
