Christmas Tree Brings Jobs And Entertainment
The smell of candy floss, the sound of children having fun and a very big Christmas tree has helped bring about an atmosphere of festivities back to the capital after almost two years. The Christmas tree at My Suva Picnic Park was lit last Friday and since then the crowd has grown every night.

The smell of candy floss, the sound of children having fun and a very big Christmas tree has helped bring about an atmosphere of festivities back to the capital after almost two years.
The Christmas tree at My Suva Picnic Park was lit last Friday and since then the crowd has grown every night.
Vinesh Lal of Jittu Estate in Suva has found employment during this time. He sells toys with LED lights.

“I thank Vodafone and Suva City Council for organising this. It almost feels like the Hibiscus Festival,” Mr Lal said.
“It was hard during the lockdowns."
"This event has allowed me to make some money and get my children ready for school.”
Families are using the park to spend time together and young people have found a new meeting spot.

The Ram family of Nasinu came to have an outing at night.
“There are very few things which can be done at night right now.
"I brought my family along so we could enjoy the night together,” said Ravneet Ram.
There is a bouncy castle for the children, choir performances and a live disc jockey for entertainment.
Vodafone who are the major sponsors of the event have ensured that there is entertainment available on every night until Christmas Eve.
Suva City Council urged the public to follow COVID-safe protocols when coming to the park.
The Fiji Police Force has been working with the council in enforcing the guidelines.
