CID probes death of 30-year-old man after health centre visit

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 30-year-old man after medical officials referred the case to authorities, with detectives also examining claims that he was present during a recent joint task force raid.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been tasked with leading the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
A post-mortem examination has also been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

According to initial information gathered by investigators, the man attended the Valelevu Health Centre on June 3 and was advised by medical officials that he should be admitted for further tests.
However, he signed a discharge form and returned to his home in Kinoya.
Police said his condition later worsened and he returned to the health centre on the night of June 4 accompanied by family members.
Despite efforts by medical staff to treat him, he died at the facility.
Police stressed that the information currently available forms part of preliminary inquiries and remains subject to further investigation.
Investigators are also examining claims that members of the Police-RFMF Joint Task Force were involved in a raid at a location where the deceased was allegedly present.
The outcome of the post-mortem examination is expected to play a key role in determining the next steps in the investigation.
