Cilicewa withdraws bail application

Murder accused Anare Vuli Cilicewa has withdrawn his bail application pending his psychiatric report from the Saint Giles Psychiatric Hospital.
Cilicewa appeared before Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu at the High Court in Suva yesterday with one count of murder.
He is alleged to have murdered a Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9, in Raiwaqa, Suva.

During the court proceeding, his lawyer Manisha Singh told the court that Cilicewa understood the situation about his application which had not been filed because they were waiting for his psychiatric report.
Ms Singh informed the court that the principal medical officer of the St. Giles Psychiatric Hospital needed to know the charges against him so that he could do a comprehensive test on him.
Justice Bulamainaivalu told Ms Singh that it was paramount that the disclosures weren’t given to the doctor.
He said it was better if she met Doctor Kiran Gaikwad and gave him the necessary information, he needed without compromising the confidentiality of the disclosures.
Meanwhile, State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid told the court that Police had started drafting a copy of the additional disclosures needed.
He said Police confirmed that the autopsy report suggested there were signs of strangling and choking.
The matter has been adjourned to December 3 to check on the psychiatric report, the photographic booklet of the alleged crime scene and the autopsy result.
