Civil Servants In Non-Essential Services Told To Work From Home
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had instructed the permanent secretaries yesterday to advise civil servants working in the non-essential sectors to work from home.

Government services will not be affected, even though some civil servants are now being told to work from home.
This is part of the Government’s initiative to maintain social distancing and cut down on the number of people at work during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had instructed the permanent secretaries yesterday to advise civil servants working in the non-essential sectors to work from home.

Elaborating on this further at a press conference in Suva, Attorney-General and Minister for Economy and Civil Service, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, said the definition of essential services and non-essential services, in this case, would vary from the Employment Relations Act. He said it would vary from ministry to ministry.
