Civil Servants salaries will be reduced under a  People’s Alliance Party Government.

At least that’s one of the key strategies outlined by its leader Sitiveni Rabuka in Labasa.

Mr Rabuka said strict measures would be implemented in paying off those debts including civil servants having to undergo a reduction in their salaries.

“We will also stop recruiting internationally because we can provide our own local civil servants right up to the top,” he said.

Mr Rabuka recalled how 70 per cent of senior civil servants during his term as the Prime Minister came from Vanua Levu.

He believed that recruitment of young locals should always be encouraged to set a perfect foundational platform by which they could holistically develop in their roles.

“We like to pursue that sort of recruitment where our local population will be employed through the junior ranks of the civil service and grow to become chief executive officers and leaders of their organisations,” he said.

Proposed Candidates

Potential candidates to contest the 2022 General Election under The People’s Alliance banner would be interviewed this week.

This was the part’s plan a month out from the election campaign period on April 26.

Mr Rabuka said 55 probable candidates from the interview process would be selected to contest for the election.

On March 15, Mr Rabuka on his official Facebook account said they had received 150 applications from interested people.

He said they hoped to have the best possible candidates selected from the interview process.

He reaffirmed an approved list would be ready by the time, the election campaign began.

In Labasa on Friday the former PM encouraged people to be registered for the voter process.
