People should embrace the true spirit of Navratri and Dussehra by cleansing their hearts of hatred, jealousy and ego which are qualities of the Ravana within. This was shared by Suva-based businessman Sandeep Narayan Singh who recently returned from India.
Mr Singh attended traditional celebrations in Pune and joined the revered Navratri Katha at Bageshwar Dham delivered by Guruji Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. He said that he discussed concerns over toxic practices threatening the sanctity of places of worship with Guruji.
“Guruji gave his full support, affirming that no such practices will be allowed and that any organisation using his name must uphold purity and Dharma,” Mr Singh said.

He added that the twin Hindu festivals should remind everyone that good always triumphs over evil and light always overcomes darkness. Mr Singh urged Fijian families to ensure that their temples and homes remain spiritually clean throughout the year, not just during festivals.
“As we welcome a new era of youth involvement, we must allow our children to take charge of our Dharma guiding us forward with strength, knowledge and fresh energy,” he said.
Mr Singh said that Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and Goddess Durga’s triumph over Mahishasura symbolise the ongoing battle for truth and righteousness.
