Climate Act To Be Refined
He said Part Eight of the Climate Change Act was devoted to research, data collection, reporting, and monitoring.

If the discourse on oceans and climate nexus is being examined, Fiji’s Climate Change Act must also be refined.
Minister for Finance Biman Prasad made the comment during the Regional Climate Assessment workshop at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi yesterday.
“The previous government passed that law and inserted a clause for a carbon budget. The Coalition Government may consider it in next year’s budget,” Mr Prasad said.

“Fiji’s Climate Change Act must be refined to not only cite ‘blue carbon’ as extensively as it does, but ensure that it provides a sound and reasonable mechanism to register blue carbon sequestration property rights -- that does not solely involve the Registrar of Titles.”
Mr Prasad said in its present form, the clauses in the Act were like asking the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to register sailing vessels.
