Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is in the process of reviewing the position of Acting Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi.
“I think that's well into the action period now, where the COC have been asked for their written opinion and that has gone back to the COC Secretariat,” Mr Rabuka said.
Mr Naucukidi was appointed Acting Commissioner on March 29, 2025, following the suspension of Commissioner Jalesi Nakarawa over allegations of abuse of office.

Mr Naucukidi was charged on October 7, 2025, with one count of criminal intimidation for allegedly threatening a member of his support staff in July this year. He will take his plea this month.
Under the 2013 Constitution, the COC is mandated to appoint the Corrections Commissioner following consultation with the Minister responsible for the Fiji Corrections Service.
The Prime Minister chairs the COC, which is responsible for appointing constitutional office holders including the Corrections Commissioner.
The commission’s review will determine the future of the acting position.
