COC to meet on Monday

The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) will meet on Monday.
Opposition leader Inia Seruiratu said that given a new President has been elected, the focus is now on filling the vital vacancies under the COC formal recommendation mandate.
The COC acts as an adviser to the President on the appointment of the;

“I know that the Constitutional Offices Commission is going to meet coming Monday,” Mr Seruiratu said.
“We looking forward to that for some of the appointments that will require his (Ratu Naiqama) endorsement.”

Prime Minister and COC chair Sitiveni Rabuka asserted that the incumbent Acting COMPOL Juki Fong Chew was doing ‘a good job’ but acknowledged the need for the appointment of a new COMPOL.
Senior G17 Opposition Member of Parliament Faiyaz Koya echoed similar sentiments.
“A lot of things pending, and I understand it follows due processes,” Mr Koya said.
“Government knows what needs to be done.”
