The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) met yesterday to consider several key constitutional appointments, including the future of Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, Parliament secretary-general Jeanette Emberson and Fiji Corrections Service Acting Commissioner Auta Moceisuva.

Prime Minister and COC chairperson Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed the positions were among those discussed, along with a replacement for a vacant Electoral Commission seat.

"The Commander's position or future, the Secretary-General of Parliament and the Commissioner," Mr Rabuka said, adding that an official announcement would follow.

Mr Rabuka said some decisions made yesterday would be announced soon, while others requiring further processes, such as the appointment of selection panels, would take longer.

Lawyer Jiten Reddy was welcomed as the newest member of the COC by Leader of the Opposition and COC member Inia Seruiratu before the meeting began.

The COC advises the President on key constitutional appointments, including the RFMF Commander, Police Commissioner, Corrections Commissioner, Parliament Secretary-General and members of the Electoral Commission.
