Colonel Manoa Gadai: Jerry, you can also look back to the days when you empowered your junior leaders in planning, resourcing and executing few major Planning Exercises within HQ LFC and with the ADF 7th Brigade HQs in Brisbane, Australia late last year, which is an accomplishment in itself

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Land Force Command (LFC) Battalion conducted a change of command parade at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua. It was officiated by the Land Force Commander Colonel Manoa Gadai.

The event last week witnessed the changing of the Commanding-Officer (CO) appointment between the outgoing CO Major Jeremaia Waqanisau and Major Asaeli Toanikeve. Major Toanikeve was the Officer-Commanding of the Unarmed Combat and Personal Security Detail (PSD) Company of the Third Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) Battalion.

Colonel Gadai acknowledged the achievements Major Waqanisau had set during his term as CO LFC and added that the achievements displayed positive commitments, dedication, and sacrifice.

“Major Jerry Waqanisau, may I commend you for a job well done during your tenure as CO LFC Battalion (BN). Today, while you pass on the torch to the incoming CO LFC BN – to Major Toanikeve, you have left behind your trace of legacy. You can look back to when you first took up this responsibility in late 2018, your trial by fire as you worked with your men around the clock through the requirements of my CLF and Commander RFMF Intents,” Colonel Gadai said.

“Its valuable lessons have provided a blueprint on how we manage our future operations within our Brigade headquarters. Jerry, you can also look back to the days when you empowered your junior leaders in planning, resourcing and executing few major Planning Exercises within HQ LFC and with the ADF 7th Brigade HQs in Brisbane, Australia late last year, which is an accomplishment in itself,” Colonel Gadai said

Colonel Gadai also wished the incoming CO Major Toanikeve well in his new appointment and said that he was confident that the new CO will deliver and build on the high standards left by his predecessor. A church service followed the handing-over parade before a traditional ceremony was held at the Band room.
