A part timer sports commentator was charged by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption (FICAC) for fraudulently selling a piece of land in Makoi.

Ajnal Anal Bhai appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad with 51 counts of obtaining financial advantage at the Suva Magistrate’s Court on April 18.

It was alleged that between May 1, 2019, and May 31, 2020, in the Central Division, Bhai sold a piece of land for $106,100.

It was heard in court that Bhai sold the land to unsuspecting individuals who knew he was not eligible to sell the land.

He was granted a non-cash bail bond of $5000 and a strict condition of reporting to the FICAC Suva Office once a month.

He was ordered not to reoffend whilst on bail and not to interfere with State witness.

A stop departure has also been issued for Bhai.

The matter was then adjourned to May 9 for mention of the serving of the second phase of disclosures.
