Committee To Upgrade North Dialysis Centre

The Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North committee has begun working on a 2022 project for the Northern Division.
Priority is the upgrade of the only dialysis centre in Vanua Levu to further enhance service delivery.
Committee president Rajneel Maharaj said the center was built by the committee nine years ago beside Labasa Hospital.

“From this year’s festival proceeds we have ordered a new dialysis machine,” Mr Maharaj said.
When the operation of the center began there were two dialysis machines and four patients.
There are now seven machines and 24 patients.
“With the increasing demand for dialysis treatment, the committee decided to carry out the much needed work,” he said.
“Our plan is to remove the old gadgets, replace them with new ones which are already ordered from overseas and work with the water filtration system called Reverse Osmosis system.”
They also plan to extend the center and have a storage house.
He said this project would cost around $70,000.
