Community Club Pitches In To Build Bus Shelter

People living in Lajonia Road, Labasa, and visitors can now take shelter while waiting for a bus or transport in the area.
This after a bus shelter was built by the Lajonia Unity Club and was opened on Saturday.
The opening was officiated by club president John Prasad and Sharmila Devi.

Mr Prasad, a Legal Aid lawyer by profession, said it was important to give back to their community.
“The idea of forming the club came about during my brother’s wedding,” he said.
“We chose this project because we saw the urgent need to address the issue of school students waiting in the hot sun and at times getting drenched in the rain while waiting.
“We have a wonderful group of enthusiastic and energetic people from different backgrounds who are willing to sacrifice their time and energy in order to make a difference in the community.”
The project was initiated in February.
“This is testament of how committed and dedicated our members are.
“The bus shelter itself was built in two days and I am so proud of the boys and their effort.”
This project was done in partnership with Labasa Rotary Club.
The Lajonia Unity Club is made up of 16 members.
