A businessman, who offered a piece of land to the Government to operate a health centre and police post, has impressed Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu.
Last Friday he met Vuo Supermarket Pte Limited managing director Jitendra Chand to view the proposed site location beside the supermarket at Vunika, Labasa
Mr Chand, originally from Labasa, had initially started the multimillion-dollar Vuo Supermarket project in 2018.

“Since taking office, we had entertained the idea of partnership between the private sector and the ministry,” Dr Lalabalavu said.
In this case the company proposed to build the centre and the ministry would provide manpower to carry out the operation.
He said the partnership was a win win situation for the Government, ministry, company and communities in Labasa.
“In this way it will cause less issue to the ministry in terms of infrastructure as it will be built by the company which will look after it,” he said.
“We look forward to details of the agreement so we can finalise the partnership and get started with the much-needed project.”
Mr Chand said he had briefed the Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima and Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development Jovesa Vocea about this project earlier this year.
“I am originally from Vunika and I want to give back to the community and people I serve,” Mr Chand said.
“The people in this community need medical and policing services and to start off with the project we have taken the lead role.”
He will send all necessary documents to the ministry soon to fast track the legal process.
