The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is set to advertise the position of Commissioner of Police soon. Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua said the COC had been moving forward with plans to find a new chief for the Fiji Police Force.
“The COC is going to advertise the position soon. Hopefully people will apply when the advertisement goes up and we can have a substantive commissioner in no time,” said Mr Tikoduadua.
The vacancy arose after Sitiveni Qiliho, who was suspended on January 27, resigned earlier this month while serving a two-year prison sentence.

This allowed the COC to proceed with finding a new appointee. The position is being held by Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew.
The COC serves as an advisory body that provides advice to the President of Fiji in relation to the appointment of key public positions, which include the Commissioner of Police.
The COC is composed of six members which includes the Prime Minister as chairperson, the Leader of Opposition and the Attorney-General. Two other members are selected by the Prime Minister and one by the Opposition Leader.
