‘Consider Artisan As A Source Of Income’

Niumai Gauna, a mat weaver from Lekanai, Vulaso in Gau, has found financial stability through her artisanal work over the years.

Niumai Gauna, a mat weaver from Lekanai, Vulaso in Gau, has found financial stability through her artisanal work over the years.

She and four other women from the Savuralele Women’s Club in Gau traveled to Suva on Wednesday to participate in the 2023 Eastern Division Lau and Lomaiviti Women Expo, which started yesterday at the Suva Civic Center Auditorium car park.

Ms Gauna takes advantage of the economic opportunities that come with selling her mats and creative artifacts.
