Corrections Officers Warned to Step Up or Be Replaced

Corrections officers have been warned to step up their roles as they are easily replaceable.
Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) Deputy Commissioner Senior Superintendent Apakuki Qura stressed this message to officers during their monthly parade in Naboro recently.
He encouraged officers to maintain the standard of safety and security for prisoners who were under their care.

“Look after your work; you can be replaced if you show that you are not committed to the job,” Deputy Commissioner Qura said.
The area of focus this year was to aim at minimising reports or complaints against the FCS.
“You must attend to all minor requests and needs of those under our care,” Deputy Commissioner Qura said.

“All things have a process; if they have issues, they must seek the consultation of your department heads first and get advice,” Deputy Commissioner Qura said.
“Know your channel of communication when confronted by members of the public; understand the procedures of your work areas; if you do not know, seek information before you give it out to the public.”
