Corrections To Sort Out Overcrowding

The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) is seeking solutions to the overcrowding of re­mand and convicted inmates at its Vaturekuka facility in Labasa.

The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) is seeking solutions to the overcrowding of re­mand and convicted inmates at its Vaturekuka facility in Labasa.

FCS Acting Commissioner, Sa­lote Panapasa, said this was an immediate problem that must be addressed.

“Labasa still accommodates con­victed prisoners with those placed on remand as well as female of­fenders in one facility,” she said.

The FCS has three main centres, Natabua in Lautoka, Korovou in Suva and in Labasa.
