The Labasa Town Council staff and the special administrator Paul Jaduram aim to collaborate effectively with Government stakeholders to enhance service delivery to ratepayers and residents.

Mr Jaduram said a meeting had been scheduled for today (January 30) with Government stakeholders to discuss how better service delivery could be offered to ratepayers and residents.

Representatives from the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC), Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), Energy Fiji Ltd (EFL), Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Ministry of Waterways, Ministry of Health, Fiji Police Force and the National Fire Authority (NFA) had been invited.

This meeting is expected to focus on creating a clear channel of communication to improve the service delivery of services for Labasa ratepayers.

“So that we can understand each other and work together to address issues affecting timely services,” Mr Jaduram said.

Submission

This submission was made to the minister during the special administrator’s induction ceremony in Suva.

In previous years, the council managed the maintenance of the footpaths despite its limited budget.

The council believes it is a better position to manage and take authority of footpaths with the new administration elected.

Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Vinesh Dayal supports the council’s move to improve service delivery.

Mr Dayal said the previous chamber did not collaborate much with the council.
