“It has been agreed that the Lomaiviti Holdings, Lomaiviti Council will take the bold step to look at Levuka Wharf as a new venture for the council,” he said.

“That is a very bold step and we are also looking at ways we can go into partnership to take ownership of the Levuka wharf to see how it can come into the scene to generate income for the council. It is all about moving forward.”

He also said the council was not spared from the economic constraints faced worldwide.

“We are surviving. No one is free from the economic impacts we are facing,” he said.

“Impacts of COVID-19, the current rise in oil prices and prices of food, shipping companies are cutting down on their trips.

“We cannot complain, however we should stand up to this and look at how we can overcome these challenges with innovative ideas.”
