Couple Appeals Conviction, Sentence For Rape Of Sisters

A couple serving time for the rape of two teenage sisters have filed an appeal against their sentence and conviction.

The couple were jailed for 17 years, with a non-parole period of 14 years, for rape and defilement.

The husband was a prominent and active member of his mosque and community, while his wife aided the crimes.

The victims were aged 12 and 15 years at the time of the offences.

The husband had raped the two victims on multiple occasions while the woman was present beside them, assisting her husband.
