Wading through muddy waters with heavy luggage to tie the knot in the capital city, Suva, is an experience a young couple in Gau did not have to endure.

Given that they live in one of the muddiest villages on the island, particularly Vanuaso in the Lomaiviti Province, Vitinia Ledua, 25, and Makiti Vulimereke, 27, read their vows in relief last Friday.

Between them, during their marriage ceremony, was their five-year-old daughter.

“Our girl is everything to us and we are so glad to have gotten married in our own village,” Mr Ledua said.
