The Ministry of Health and Medical Services will extend the lockdown period for a few more days if they do not swab and test all 800 to 900 people identified as contacts by the careFIJI app.

Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services Dr James Fong said this is the worst-case scenario as the ministry is aware of the socio-economic ills associated with prolonged lockdowns like gender violence and mental health.

As a result in the event, a longer period of lockdown is ordered, it will be more targeted.
